FOOD SAFETY – The FACTS
Fact – According to the latest OzFoodNet annual report, 5.4 million cases of foodborne illness occur annually in Australia, many of which are preventable. The cost of these illnesses is estimated at a staggering AUD $1.2 billion.
If FOOD STANDARDS AUSTRALIA NEW ZEALAND are concerned with the suitability of plastic for food contact, WHY do schools, hospitals, commercial kitchens continue to use them?
After consultation with Queensland Health and Food Standards Australia New Zealand we received the following standards for commercially used cutting boards….
“The use of hard, close grained wood can be suitable for equipment such as chopping boards, butchers’ blocks, rolling pins etc providing they are maintained in a good condition……”
“Plastics are generally suitable for a wide range of purposes, but plastics vary with their resistance to heat, suitability for food contact etc.”
(Food Standards Australia New Zealand 3.2.3 page 130)
With the above in mind it should be time to think about changing the plastic cutting boards in your Kitchen?
If you are not using a certified “Antibacterial” cutting board then you are putting yourself and other’s at risk of contracting a foodborne bacteria.
After receiving the above information from Food Standards Australia New Zealand, we are now actively promoting our product into your school tuck shop in the hope the children can be protected from foodborne bacteria. It is your choice – to keep your old cutting boards and run the risk, or upgrade to the Fab Slabs Antibacterial cutting boards!
There has been a long term misconception that “plastic boards” are the best when in fact it has been proven that plastic boards often harbor bacteria, in some case allow them to grow in the grooves made by knife cuts.
What sets Prestige Cutting Boards apart from all other competitive products is a simple fact that (to the best of our knowledge) Fab Slabs Cutting boards are the only boards available to be tested and endorsed by a NATA approved laboratory for total resistance to food borne bacteria – in particular E.coli – Staph – Salmonella and Listeria. Please see attached reports. We are confident to say “there are no plastic cutting boards that could pass these antibacterial laboratory tests”.
In what is believed to be a world first, Prestige Cutting Boards has confirmed that their cutting boards are NATURALLY and PERMANENTLY antibacterial. Extensive laboratory tests were conducted on a ten-year-old, seven-year-old and brand-new Fab Slabs wooden cutting boards. All tests revealed ZERO bacteria growth.
